Introducing Our New RSS Review Panels

We are excited to announce the launch of our monthly RSS Review Panel. These bring together central RSS and partnership advisors with public contributors to review late drafts of NIHR project applications for upcoming NIHR funding deadlines.

The purpose panel is to provide actionable recommendations that improve the quality and competitiveness of applications.

Purpose of the Review Panels

Our focus is on reviewing applications for NIHR project funding (excluding fellowships). Teams supported by our RSS Hub are invited to share their applications with us for Panel review.

• Submission Timeline:
  Teams should submit their advanced draft applications at least three weeks before the funder's submission deadline to allow sufficient time for addressing Panel feedback. Drafts must be submitted to us seven days before the date of the Review Panel meeting.
• Panel Composition:
  Each panel includes RSS advisors, public contributors and partnership advisors. We also involve our Information Specialist, who conducts a scoping review to ensure the application draws on pertinent research evidence.
• Review Process:
  Each application is discussed in detail by the Panel. Formative feedback is sent to teams as quickly as possible to allow teams to consider and make recommended changes
